As our last weeks turn into last days before the end of the year, the realization of all that we have lost begins to sink in. There is no way to turn back the clock, but there is a way to move forward. All it takes is some creativity and outside-of-the-box thinking. There are still some constants in this unprecedented time, like the beautiful spring weather. Nobles spring can still proceed in many aspects despite the change of location. Here are some beloved aspects of Nobles Spring, re-imagined!
Spring Sports and Afternoon Activities
Missing your sports teams and activities? Nothing can ever replace playing your game with your teammates, standing in Vinik Theatre running lines, or spending time with your peers and classmates. However, the sense of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and adrenaline can be found from the comfort of your own home.
What to do if you miss your sport:
Looks like summer came early this year! Feel free to break out your summer and beach games like wiffle ball, spikeball, badminton, and everything else! Grab a ball and find a wall to practice your hand-eye coordination. Refuel the sense of competition with your family! Make teams and rounds to increase the stakes.
What to do if you miss afternoons in Vinik:
Use the Google Chrome extension “Netflix party” with friends and cue up your favorite musical! There are plenty of musicals and plays available to stream. If you are feeling extra motivated, you could find a script or song lyrics online and act along with your favorite stars!
Spring Coffee House
Snuggling up with friends under the fairy lights and good tunes aren’t entirely gone! Thanks to Calliope, Coffeehouse will be held virtually this May! Hop on Zoom or text your friends to replicate the sense of togetherness that Coffee House always brings. All you need to do is bring your own blanket, grab some snacks, and turn down the lights to feel right back in the Morrison Forum.
In its simplest form, Art Street is a beautiful day filled with BBQ, chalk, bubbles, tie-dye, good music, and games. All of which can be replicated from your own backyard, street, or even in your house. Art Street can be celebrated inside or outside! Make some lemonade, fire up the grill, crank the music, and call your friends! Art Street is one of the most memorable days of the school year.
Here are the steps to create a one-of-a-kind Art Street:
1) Food and drink. Squeeze some lemons for some lemonade, toss some burgers on the grill, or make your favorite meal. Art Street isn’t Art Street without all of the delicious food.
2) Crank the music! Spend some quality time finding music to blast in your headphones or on a speaker. Find some songs to belt at the top of your lungs! Share audio with friends on Zoom to party with your people!
3) Let the fun and games begin! Although the vast table of games brought to you by SLC and clubs won’t be present, you could always improvise. Tie-dye a shirt or bleach a sweatshirt. Start a game of twister with your family or siblings. Dig up that string from last summer and start cranking out bracelets for your friends. Blow some bubbles or swish your hips with a hula hoop. Break out the board games and have a laugh!

Spring is one of the most beautiful times on campus. Even though we aren’t together, the fun can still continue. These beloved Nobles traditions will live to see another spring. A change in location results in increased creativity!
